As a kid, a #coloring book for me, was always a fun way to be creative while bringing life to the black and white pages therin. For the seconds and minutes that you are coloring, you are allowed to escape as you plan what you want your picture to look like. Staying in the lines, putting color schemes together, playing with shading, or combining colors, you are allowed to let your imagination run wild.
As a #nurse, working with different patient populations, in addition to all that we are required to do, there is also a humanistic characteristic that overwhelms us as we do things that we aren't required to do but do because we enjoy it: entertaining patients and helping to bring a semblance of normalcy is one of those things. Searching for movies, games, popular songs to sing and other activities, common ground with kids is often found via coloring. I've seen #smiles from kids who've ignored every other activity mentioned before I got to the "do you want to color" question.
So here I am, with the goal of creating a tool to bring about a smile.
Princesses are popular, super heroes are fun, but I wanted to create characters that the patients could see themselves in. Characters that looked like, the brave, strong, happy, courageous individuals that though they may not always feel like, they always are.
